What is the Triple 8 Quest? What is the Triple 7 Quest?

Hosted since 2015, both the Triple 7 Quest & Triple 8 Quest have been resounding successes! Beginning in 2023 we began honoring my mom -- Becky Rupp (https://www.startribune.com/obituaries/detail/0000362066/?fullname=rebecca-(lindgren)-rupp) . My mom was my biggest supporter and enthusiast. She loved the fact that I traveled the world and would eagerly await all the details of this particular event as we circumnavigated the globe. She was there with me when I first created the idea for this event in 1999 and always expressed a desire to join me on this amazing adventure. I was planning on making my mom's wish come true and bring her with us on the 2021 edition. It was going to be a surprise for her birthday in 2020. But with Covid, that seemed unlikely for 2021. So I planned on letting her know she would be joining us in 2022. And then the day before her birthday in 2020, I found her having passed. So going forward the Triple 7 Quest event will honor my mom. Whether you want to run the Original 7 Continents or complete The Original 7 plus the new Continent (Zealandia), as well, we have a racing option for you. We travel to marathons and half-marathons organized by local event directors for both The Triple 7 and Triple 8, where we will be joined by as many as 500 local runners. The Triple 8 begins in Auckland, New Zealand and the Triple 7 begins in Perth, Australia. Both events finish at The White Continent Marathon & Half-Marathon in Antarctica. And please note, our events' goals are to complete each event in 7 days or 8 days, respectively. Our events' goal is not to complete under 7 days or under 8 days as the rules we established in 1999 (and updated in 2017 when Zealandia was added as a Continent) when we created the sport state that finishing under 7 days would result in a 7, 7, 6 (8, 8, 7) .
